About Carla Speight.
I’ve been taking photographs from a young age, courtesy of my mum working for photo development lab. During the school holidays, I was given a disposable camera and quickly worked out that each shot could capture a moment and a memory. I’d photograph the people around me, friends and family at significant gatherings. My passion for capturing the moment quickly turned into everyday life photography, I was that friend who always had a camera with her, I photographed everyone and all the things that made growing up a bit more special.
As I got older, like a true photography nerd, I moved on from disposable cameras and learned all about the advancing photography equipment out there, from lighting to DLSR, lenses and accesories; in fact, I still do that now.
My career in commercial photography started with photographing the events and shows I wanted to attend. I made contact with the organisers, the bands, the performers and offered my services in exchange for a ticket. It quickly developed into a paid career, one that has been filled with household names, celebrity events, spectacular shows and festivals, all of which were built on recommendations. I have worked in studio and on various kinds of locations all over the UK, my skills set and abilities are flexible, and I am driven with achieving my client’s objectives.
My experience and exclusive access lead to a passion for writing. Whilst watching the shows I started to review and promote them in the press. Much like my career in photography, I’ve developed my writing
skills and written press releases, features, guides, top tips, reviews, interviews and much more. All well researched and driven to achieving the client’s expectations.
My career has progressed naturally, built up through recommendations based on the skill and talent I have shown through my work. My client list consits of household names, festivals, businesses and brands. I have devloped a wide ranging set of skills, with a purpose of promoting my clients. All of which has meant my work has been regularly featured in national and global press.
Along side photographing and writing about my clients, I’ve developed an in depth set of courses, from beginners to advanced photographers and writers alike. I take the view that I don’t work for ‘Fight Club’ and I am happy to use my years of experience and wealth of skills to help others learn how to achieve their writing and photography goals.
With a career like mine, I’ve been part of so many amazing moments and events. I’ve got more annecdotes that Graham Norton could handle. But these experiences have given me the opportunity to develop insightful, educational and inspiring public speaker sessions. Ideal for business expos, networking events, inspirational events, corporate events, after dinners, in schools, colleges and universities. I have the abitilty to not only speak to a room full of people but also leave them inspired and educated in their niche and industries.

“Carla is fantastic! Not only does she get what your going for but is flexible to your needs. Having worked with Carla on a few shoots, I find her best quality is her ability to take away the awkwardness of a having a camera in your face. By simply chatting to you throughout and slipping in some camera shots along the way. It’s a professional but personal service which I’d highly recommend to anyone.”
